What impact does a celebrity endorsement have on your decision to buy a product, read a book, etc?
I'm intrigued by the apparent impact and influence that celebrities have in our decision making. It is a documented fact that if Oprah endorses a book or product … Sales are rising as never before! And we know that advertisers for Nike, Pepsi, Allstate Insurance, and Jenny Craig to pay millions of dollars ALL celebrities to promote their products. This would not happen (the payment of these million) if it did not work. And in the end …. we will not all end up paying more for these products …. because now not only the manufacturer has to charge … but also does the advertiser and the celebrity endorsement. And in the case of Oprah … (I respect their achievements) … She just has POWER …. (I think the benefits of the things she endorses or promoting books) I have curiosity as to the motivations … "To buy initially," based on a celebrity endorsement.
None of what I never … at least not consciously. I've wondered the same thing, but I suspect it has more to do with what we buy and why. I'm not normally an impulse buyer, but sometimes see a product and how to use can trigger an impulse buy. It is irrelevant to me that a celebrity is a person traveling the product.
