Why would Exxon be leaving the gas station buisness if it created such ‘record profits?’?
Just curious what you conspiracy theorists think because gasoline sales has a very low profit margin. Thanks.
The profit is in the refining and distribution not the retail end. The final seller get s a markup of about 10 cents a gallon and has to pay operating costs out of that not a good ROI. Also, remember the government gets more per gallon in taxes than the refiner makes in profit.
