How do you address an interviewer who questions your non-related past job experience?
For instance, if an interviewer sees that you have a couple of different positions (i.e. – one position in a non-profit, a few sales positions, a position with the US military, and a position with a tax company) and questions you about what exactly do you want to do and why were you working with so many different organizations without a clear goal, what is the best answer to give him/her?
BTW, let’s assume that you know exactly what you want to do, but very few opportunities are available in your desired field of work. You’d start your own business, but you don’t have the capital, experience and/or resources to do so. So, being self-employed is not an option.
The answer you gave in the second paragraph is a good answer.
