Does the fact that the once mighty tobacco lobby has been leveled give you hope that other giants can be too?
The tobbaco giants were one of the most powerful lobbies in American history. It took decades of protests and cancer links and other factors to bring them to their knees!
Now the government is trying to tax people out of smoking another swift and powerful blow to the tobbaco industries!
Doesn’t that make you hopeful that perhaps with other giants like the oil industry what’s better for humanity and the planet could possibly at some point outweigh what’s best for the oil industry profits?
That’s just one example.
I am hopeful and see this as a good sign! IMHO.
A lot of work remains to be done. Lifting the conditions for the most vulnerable workers will help all workers. “Nobodies: Modern American Slave Labor and the Dark Side of the New Global Economy” is a great book, written by John Bowe. Lays out some of the challenges.
